First trips planned!!

Boiler problems at home have delayed our first overnighters with Frank, although consideration was given to pressing him into service to provide a hot shower!!

Our first big trip will be to France on 23 May for a week - trying the Newhaven to Dieppe ferry overnight. This arrives in Dieppe at 0400hrs but we know from last summer when we hired a van, that there are two good Aires right by the ferry terminal, so the plan is to bed down for a couple of hours when we get off the ferry, breakfast in Dieppe, and then hit the road.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, we twisted Amelia's arm, and she is coming with us!!!

Already booked our main summer trip, DFDS Ferries again, but this time Dover to Calais on 7th July. The plan for this trip is to spend a week or so travelling south, a week in Provence at Le Lac De Sainte Croix near Aups and then another week wending our way back to Calais.

And this weekend we are going to have a 'try everything to see that it works' stop at a site in the Forest of Dean.

Can't wait !

Bringing Frank home.

Collected Frank from Bob this morning at 10.30. Bob gave us a very thorough handover, sorted out the warranty through Nick at Bundesvan and wished us well. He would like to hear how we get on and is very happy to hear from us if we have any questions.

Drove Frank home nervously, but it was really no problem - just like a car, but bigger!

Once home we agonised over whether or not to go away with Frank tonight and eventually decided rather than rush into it unprepared we would wait until we had sorted out things like the correct hose fittings to fill with water, and the most basic things like toilet chemicals, pots, pans etc.

However, with Frank sat at the end of the lane we felt we had to do something with him to get to know eachother.

So, a trip to Eckington Bridge, where we parked overlooking the river, made a brew and congratulated ourselves on our choice of travelling partner.

Now we need to sort out our plans for the first proper trip. We can't wait, and we will keep you all posted.

Our new toy

After years of talking about it, speculative  trips to motorhome dealers, one visit to a giant motorhome show, and after I (Mark that is!) spent probably enough on magazines to fund a decent holiday (so Jo would say), we bought Frank. Frank is a 2003 Frankia I650SD A class motorhome.

We collect him tomorrow and this blog will be our vehicle by which we will document and share our travels and adventures.
